Dr. Andrew Coombs recently completed his PhD in Education (Queen’s University) as a senior member of the Classroom Assessment Research Team under the supervision of Dr. Christopher DeLuca. In May 2021, he joined Memorial University’s Faculty of Education as a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Joelle Rodway and Dr. Karen Goodnough.
Andrew’s research programme focuses on understanding the factors shaping early career teachers’ assessment practices and assessment learning needs. He has been involved in a number of projects and research studies utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods within and between several contexts (e.g., Canada, United States, Germany, China, Australia, New Zealand). His research can be found in Teaching and Teacher Education, Assessment in Education: Principles, Policy & Practice, Cogent Education, Canadian Journal of Education, Educational Research and Evaluation, Assessment Matters, Educational Research, Heliyon, and Studies in Educational Evaluation as well as in practitioner publications including Canadian Teacher Magazine and Education Canada.
